124. 1979 Canada Fashion/Mode

The first issue. Not a magazine, but a lush heavy papered digest, the best of Canadian manufacturers and designers, using Canadian models, hairdressers, makeup artists and shot by Canadian photographers. A brilliant Canadian cross section presented in the glossiest way possible. Created by Fashion Canada, and sent abroad! It was the first of 4 issues, 1 per year, 1979 – 1982.

“At the risk of sounding vain, we think our industry is ready for the world, and we present it with pride.”

A side note, all 4 issues were once the property of Beate Ziegert, who was an instructor at Ryerson Polytechnic, now University, before moving south. They are currently in the hands of the very generous library staff at the Royal Ontario Museum. Thanks for preserving these treasures…
